Who We Are

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is a Christ centered, Bible believing, mission minded fellowship
seeking to carry out God's will as He reveals it to us within the context of worship, fellowship, study, and service.

Our Roots...

Though rich in history, we are not stuck in the past. The Pleasant Hill Baptist Church grew
from the Free Will Baptist Fellowship that was established in Hollis in 1780 (then known as Phillipsburg).
The first church building was "dedicated to the worship of God" in April of 1840.

On October 24, 1947 the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church burned in the terrible forest fires
that destroyed so many of the buildings in the surrounding towns.
In November it was decided to rebuild the church.
This was thought to be a large undertaking with a membership so small,
but on June 26, 1949 the new church building was dedicated.

In 2006 we completed a massive renovation of, and addition to the church,
doubling the size of the sanctuary, almost tripling the size of the fellowship area,
and making the entire building accessible by those who are physically challenged.
It was a massive undertaking and could have only been completed by God's guiding hand
and limitless grace as He led his people to selfless sacrifices of prayers,
finances, and over 2400 man-hours of volunteer labor.

It has been said, and is still true today, that though the Pleasant Hill Church
seems to have always had a small membership,
these few have had influence out of proportion to their number.
We look forward with enthusiastic anticipation to what our Gracious Lord
has planned for us now and in the future!
