Ministries

The apostle Peter wrote, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
Faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." (1 Peter 4:10)
As servants of our Lord Jesus Christ, we at Pleasant Hill believe that God has called us
to follow Peter's exhortation through a variety of ministries.

Some of the ministries that originate through the people of our church include:

As part of our worship service, we offer up to our Lord a variety of music presented by our choir (open to all who desire to participate), as well as individuals who feel led of God to praise Him with their musical gifts.

Our church provides a variety of free bibles to anyone who wants one. There are adult study bibles, youth bibles, and children's bibles located on the table in the rear of the sanctuary.

Our Loaves and Fishes ministry consists of volunteers who prepare and deliver meals to help families within
our congregation.

Our video ministry produces DVD copies of each Sunday's worship services for anyone who misses a service and desires to watch it at home. Special events are also recorded and made available. All events taking place in the sanctuary are also viewable in the basement of the church.

The Greeter ministry is provided to welcome people as they enter the church on Sunday mornings. It gives visitors the opportunity to ask questions and know that they are welcome by our body of believers.

Nursery care is provided for children in the second grade or younger during the Sunday morning sermon.

The Good Shepherd Fund is a PHBC ministry that provides confidential emergency assistance for local people in need. Assistance to individuals or families may be given in the form of gas, groceries, department store debit cards, home heating fuel, or in rare circumstances, cash. Financial support for this fund comes primarily through donations from our congregation.

God has led us to regularly support several other ministries. These include:

The Alpha Pregnancy Center, located in Sanford, Maine, is a Christian based outreach ministry that offers Christian counseling and assistance to young pregnant women. Each year our church participates in their "Baby Bottle" drive, which helps them to purchase diapers, baby formula, and a variety of other care items for young mothers and their infants.

Eastern Gate Ministries International (EGMI) is a New Hampshire based ministry that annually sponsors a ministry trip that focuses on training local pastors in Tanzania, Africa. The organization has also been involved with providing physical and spiritual support to families and orphaned children in that region.

The Food Pantry at the Hollis Center Baptist Church provides food and related household goods to local families in need. We partner with them by collecting can goods, nonperishable food, and cash once a month and donating these to the ministry.

Hospital Chaplaincy is a Maine based ministry whose volunteers visit hospital patients, deliver small gifts, and minister Christ to the sick.

Through World Vision our church sponsors Abdoulkarim Ould Slube, a boy living in Mauritania, Africa. We fund this sponsorship through the "Pennies From Heaven" donation jar. World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide by addressing the causes of poverty and sharing the gospel.

Alliance Academy International, a private K-12 co-educational school, located in Quito, Ecuador, and Extreme Response International, minister to the Zambiza community living within the Quito city dump. During the school year, the high school students operate an afternoon bible club for elementary aged children. One afternoon a week, another group of students assist at the Extreme Response daycare for the trash sorter's children. In this Christ centered atmosphere, Alliance Academy students play with the preschoolers through games, singing, and bible stories.
